Hey, ecomaniacs. It's supposed to be warm and sunny on Sunday so get out of the house and soak up this scene. There will be booths with environmental information, so fresh and so green green stuff for sale, yummy food, plant and tree to purchase, animals to adopt, art to buy, hybrid cars to scope, and more. The people watching and lounging lakeside is free—plus, the park is almost complete with its beautiful, natural-looking facelift. Bike or walk to the event and avoid parking hassles. Methodist Hospital is providing parking/shuttle services for those who don't take public transport.

"Fred Wiseman is one of the world’s greatest living documentary filmmakers. A law professor turned filmmaker in 1967, he has chronicled the exercise of power in American society by focusing on the everyday travails of the least fortunate who are caught in the tangled webs of social institutions. His films, which tackle issues ranging from hospitals for the criminally insane to juvenile court to domestic violence shelters, often have as an underlying theme the individual’s attempt to preserve his or her humanity and dignity while struggling against dehumanizing bureaucratic systems. Wiseman and his documentaries have won numerous awards, including several Emmys, a Dupont Award, a MacArthur “genius” grant, a Guggenheim Fellowship and a Peabody Award, among others. Fred Wiseman's visit is the culminating event in a semester-long series of programs, classes, and creative work entitled "The Past in the Future: Thinking Through Human Rights, Heritage Documentation, and the Archival Imperative."
