Fashion Week At Its Most Fun | Martin Margiela

The most insane conceptual show from all of Fashion Week (New York, Milan, Paris) came courtesy of the notoriously mysterious designer Martin Margiela and his Maison Spring/Summer 2009 collection in Paris last night—a 20th anniversary celebration. The show was subversive and radical and everything entertaining to my sometimes dark sense of humor. Rumors swirled he's retiring. His spokesperson says not so. Who knows. But the grand finale was just way too fabulous. It was a giant white silky birthday cake worn by two anonymous models that strode the catwalk in a cascade of silver confetti followed by a marching band playing James Brown (sigh). Fashion Week | Proenza Schouler Fall 2008

Finally had the chance to do a little homework tonight, reading all about what's going on at Fashion Week in NYC. Just found this on Style.com and it put a gigantic smile on my face: "A road trip to Donald Judd's Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas, inspired Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. That and making paper airplanes en route in the car." Cute! I want a P.S. paper airplane.

So!!! Which one of my friends knew those two cuties were hanging out in Marfa and what can you tell me about them being there? AVS, I'm talking to you. Get your investigator reporting hat on, pweeze.

Haute Stuff | Marc Jacobs

Just got an email from corporate HQ with schedule listings of fashion week (starting on my birthday, January 31). Find lots of Fall 2008 coverage at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. I went "UH UUHHHH" when I saw what time Marc Jacobs is scheduled to hit the runway. Last fall, you might remember a MAJOR catfight between Suzy Menkes and Marc. It had THE ENTIRE fashion world buzzing. The two "kissed and made up" when Marc ended the feud with a special gift. Read about it.

Did Marc feel so much pressure about his late start times that he's looking for better publicity this season?

Fashion Can Be A Real Bitch...Slap

The winner for best fashion week catfight goes to Marc Jacobs and Suzy Menkes, fashion reporter for the International Herald Tribune. Menkes soured on Jacobs for starting his show late and gave him a lousy review, calling his collection a "freak show." Jacobs retorted via WWD, "I work my #$@ off. I don't take vacations. I don't have homes all over the world. I don't ride horses: I %#$*&#! work for a living," he fumed, hinting that he might ditch the New York tents and show in Paris next time around. "So leave me alone and don't come to the show next time." Meow.

Menkes did fire back, saying that:
"I'm afraid my British sense of humor fell flat. My remarks about murdering Marc Jacobs were meant as a joke, and probably a very bad one."

DAMN! Cathy Horyn prolly wouldn't have bowed down so quickly. Boo. Team Jacobs is a thought.
