A purely textual relationship I had this morning via the celly:
Landlord

Holly…Well…It looks like the girl wants your unit! The only thing is she wants to move in on the first and it will take my guys probably 3 days to go through the unit and get it ready. Can you guys be fully out by the 28th?
Me

Sounds like an offer we can’t refuse. Will we be refunded for three days?
Me
8:51 a.m.
I mean, four days?
Landlord

Unfortunately not! This will save you the 18 days of rent in February. If she cannot be in on February 1st , then she wants to wait until the 28th of February. This will make that happen and save you guys the 18 days! It’s up to you guys.

Seems to me I have some options here. Stay those 18 days in February, giving both Ean and I more time to work on things we want to do in our new house. This of course means that our current landlord would be out 10 days of rent—you know, if the new girl can’t move in until the 28th. Or, we leave on “January 28” which really means January 27 for us, if that’s the day his guys need to be in to “get it ready.” While we don’t want to have to pay an extra 18 days, we can. But wouldn’t it be more reasonable for our landlord to just refund us those 4 days. Financially, for him, it seems like the more affordable option. Kind of a bummer, doncha think? I mean, we have paid for those 4 days. Just sayin'. Makes me sad, I'm horrible about always assuming people will do the right thing.
If we do move in early, expect our pleas for the Home-Reno Co-op Posse to go into effect, QUICK! More to come on that.
